cutting stainless steel countertop questions

I could not get a local metal shop to fabricate new stainless countertops for me and I discovered that these pre-made workbench tops are a fraction of the costs compared to hiring a fabricator.

The problem is I need to cut them down to size and am struggling with the method to use. I was able to use a metal blade and a jig saw to rip the countertop on the right side of this photo. However, it was a really tough job and the cut is embarrassingly jagged due to the blade wondering and flexing.

The side goes against the wall so I can hide it with trim. My dilemma is now cutting it to length. As you can see it needs to be shortened to fit against the other stainless counter top in the corner.

Should I just buy a new hacksaw blade and very slowly do this cross cut? It is relatively thin as the main structure is a composite wood product.

I dont really think the jig saw method will make the end cut I need. I am not sure a metal blade on my Skill "circular" saw is a good option either.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
RKTINC

Just a quick question for the group. Not sure how to proceed with a project. I am installing Husky brand stainless steel worktop surfaces in a bar area in my new shop. Stainless steel profiles for the most demanding applications

Stainless steel is a collective term for more than 160 special types of steel &#; known as alloy steels &#; that thanks to their different compositions are suited to a wide range of different applications. Stainless steel is not necessarily rustproof. Only when chromium is added to the alloy does a protective, passive layer form on the surface of just a few thousandths of a millimetre in thickness. While this layer is very thin, it can always form again if it is mechanically damaged, and so rust does not generally occur on this steel. As such this protective layer must never be permanently damaged (e.g. by extraneous rust or certain chemicals such as hydrochloric acid).

All stainless steel products in our product assortment are generally manufactured to V2A quality (material no. 1. = AISI 304). Many products are however also available in V4A quality (material no. 1. = AISI 316L).
