Tips to Protect your Purchase

Use caution installing rubber couplings.
Damage may result from couplings being pushed too far onto the header manifold, tearing outside riser tubes. This occurs when clamps are left untightened and additional collectors are added. Each side of the coupling should be tightened to the manifold before attempting to insert the other side. Using new hardware WITH internal rubber stoppers virtually eliminates this problem, however caution should still be exercised to mitigate this problem completely.

I am not a plumber and until I can no longer perform these tasks I will use what are called shark bite fittings. The only issue I have with those fittings (aside from their proven long term use) is their seeming flexibility between pipes, joints and valves. To secure all parts of the plumbing joints and to keep them tight inside cabinets from being hit/jostled, and losing the connection between parts I now use these posts. I can speak of their own long term use (and the welded pieces) over time, I can say that these solidify the entire length of pipe, connections and valves that I no longer have to worry about leaks or accidental damage in my plumbing. Not only have I used them in the cabinet but because there isn't a huge cost to buying in pairs I now have them under the floor and in the toolbox for future uses.
