USB cables - the good, the bad and the ugly
Goodness me!

Whenever someone claims to hear a difference in sound quality between digital cables or devices, my immediate response is one of skepticism. While I don't doubt that some people perceive changes, whether real or imagined, I personally have no inclination to test these items in my system for a marginal improvement. Simply put, the answer is no!
Those who feel compelled to mock such claims, regardless of their own testing experience, must find it frustrating. Missing a single post and losing the chance to make a sarcastic remark among their peers can be quite bothersome for them.
I have never ventured into comparing digital cables myself. However, I am now considering it since I need a couple of new Ethernet cables. I've decided to purchase Cat6a cables from BJC to replace the inexpensive Cat6 cables from Maplin in one of my hi-fi systems. These replacements will likely cost around £40 to £50. I might test for any noticeable difference, but I might not bother either.
Why High-Quality Speaker Wire and Audio Cables Matter - SVS
Debunking Audio Cable Myths
The debate around audio cables has spawned numerous myths over the years. Here, we address some of these myths and present the truths, aiding you in making informed decisions when navigating the great audio cable debate.
Audio cables have no effect on the performance of your system
Poor quality speaker and line-level component connections can introduce interference and signal degradation, adding noise and impacting audio quality. Replacing them with high-quality, shielded cables allows your system to perform at its best.

Rare materials and expensive engineering are necessary for premium audio cables
With rigorous engineering and high-quality materials, similar performance levels can be achieved at a fraction of the cost of overly expensive cables.
Exotic braiding of audio cables enhances performance
While some manufacturers use twisted conductors to minimize crosstalk and interference noise, there is no conclusive evidence that complex braidings enhance performance. The purity of the cable's conductive materials and its interference rejection capabilities have a greater impact on performance.
Break-in of cables is necessary for optimal performance
This is a more subjective area, with many claiming audible improvements after a break-in period. However, there is no scientific evidence to support this, and paying for break-in services is generally not worthwhile.
