JAC Motors is a Chinese automobile and commercial vehicle manufacturer. Its officially known as Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co. Ltd. and is headquartered in Hefei, Anhui, China. The company was first established as Hefei Jianghuai Automobile Factory in 1964. The name was then changed to Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co. Ltd. in 1997. By 2001 the company made it onto the Shanghai Stock Exchange listings. JAC is well known for its commercial trucks but it also began producing MPVs and SUVs since the 2000s. In 2007 the company received government approval to produce passenger cars. However, the company was working with the Hyundai Motor Company since the early 2000s as they attempted to expand its product range. In 2009 the Chinese government were looking into consolidation in the Chinese automobile industry. It was predicted that JAC would merge with Chery since they were both located in the same province. JAC’s main focus were on trucks at the time, while Chery had the passenger car market covered. So naturally a merger between the two would’ve made sense. However, JAC has made it clear they have no interest in consolidation. The automaker has put more focus to passenger cars and also announced a new electric vehicle program in 2010. JAC Motors product range The automaker has a very comprehensive product line. Vehicles include light, medium and heavy-duty trucks, MPVs, SUVs, sedans, bus chassis, buses, engineering machinery, engines, gearboxes and other components. JAC has an annual production capacity of more than 700,000 units and is ranked as one of the top 10 Chinese auto brands.

2009 - In November 2009, JAC�s A-class sedan, the Turin, was named 'the most charming upscale compact car' by the authoritative global automotive evaluation agency JD Power, and is the only independent car brand to have won the award. In November 2009, JAC light-duty trucks were awarded the certification of Chinese Exemption from Export Inspection.
