How are glass tiles made? A glass mosaic tile, like ceramic mosaic tiles, is made using a hard plastic mould. The process is as follows.

1. Glass production: First, the glass is made. Coloured glass in different shades is melted and formed into thin sheets of glass.
2. Cutting the glass sheets: The glass sheets are then cut into smaller, equal sized pieces, which will form the glass mosaic tiles.
3. Placement in the mould: The cut glass pieces are carefully placed in a mould, in which the desired shape and dimensions of the mosaic tile are cut out.
4. Pressing and heating: The mould is placed in a press and put under pressure to ensure that the glass tile pieces fit together properly. The mould is then heated so that the glass fuses and sticks together.
5. Cooling and removal from the mould: After the heating process, the mould is removed from the press and the glass mosaic tile is carefully removed from the mould.
6. Finishing: The edges of the glass mosaic tile can be ground to achieve a neat finish.

This process ensures that the glass mosaic tiles are consistent in size and shape, making them easier to install and providing a uniform appearance when used to create mosaic designs.
