Why add fullness?

Fullness adds depth, richness, opacity and sound absorption. In many cases, the more fullness the better, but that depends on what your event requires.

Our drapes are sewn flat, thus allowing the user to select the fullness from nearly flat to more than 200%, depending on the fabric and desired look.

Most velour drapes are quoted at 50% fullness (1½ times the fabric width). An ultra thin sheer drape may be quoted at nearly 200% (4 times the width).

What is "finish"?

Finish refers to the top and bottom of the drape. Our drape is typically finished with a 4&#;-6&#; pipe pocket that allows for the sleeving of the drape directly onto the hardware; and the original Velcro tear back pocket opens to eliminate humps where the drapes meet.

Most drape also includes blind ties that allow the drape to be tied directly to a pipe, such as truss or existing theatre pipe.

What Types Of Finishes Do You Offer?

What is FR and IFR?

FR (Flame Retardant) refers to fabric that has been topically treated with a flame-retardant solution. FR-treated fabric needs to be re-treated over time or during cleanings to remain flame retardant.

IFR (Inherently Flame Retardant) refers to fabric that is woven with flame resistant yarn or treated during the finishing process, thereby guaranteeing its safety for the life of the drape.

Both FR and IFR meet the industry standards set forth by the NFPA 701 Small Scale. Certificates are available upon request for all our rental drape.

What Is Pipe and Drape?

Pipe refers to fixed or adjustable upright and horizontal pipes and steel stands that provide a support frame to hold the drape. Used with fabric drapes, they can help temporarily decorate, partition, and enhance a space. Pipe and drape are used in many kinds of events like trade fairs & exhibition booths, corporate events, social and political events, gala&#;s and many other types of formal gatherings. They provide an easy-to-set-up structure that can just as easily be dismantled. There are 5 basic components to Pipe & Drape. Telescopic upright, adjustable horizontal, base plate, pin and sandbag

Drapes are fabric materials are used to partition and/or enhance spaces. The sizes range from 3&#;h to 50&#; high. Drapes are up to 22&#; high are sewn with a pipe pocket so the drape can be sleeved onto the horizontal pipe. They are also created with a tear back Velcro pocket tm in order to make the transition from drape to drape seamless. Drapes from 25&#; to 50&#; high are made with ties that connect the drape to truss or ceiling structures. The rental fabrics come in different widths depending on the fabric. All rental drapes are inherently flame retardant.

Pipe refers to fixed and telescopic aluminum uprights and adjustable horizontals. The most commonly used are the telescopic uprights and adjustable horizontals because they offer the most versatility. The basic frame is composed of two upright pieces that can be are adjusted for height and one horizontal that connects to the two uprights. Together with the steel base, they form the basic structure on which the fabric hangs. This structure repeats for as long as is required for the drape run. Sandbags are also required to weight the structure

How Do You Install Pipe & Drape?

Drapes can add color and life to your event. When installing your drapes, is it critical to get the framework correct as this determines the firmness of the setup. Once this is done, the fabric is simply sleeved over the pipe to form the backdrop that you desire. Using the telescopic uprights, adjustable horizontals, and the steel bases & pins, you start creating the structure. The last step is to sleeve the drapes over the structure

Pipe system comes with a series of aluminum uprights, and horizontals, a pin and a steel base. After carefully measuring the amount of space you are working with, you can install the structure. During this process, one starts with steel bases and pin on which the whole drapery system rests. These bases must be reinforced with sandbags to counterbalance the weight of the fabrics that will be supported by the frames. The more weight, the more bags. At this point, you can adjust the height and width of the structure to fit the exact dimensions that you desire. The length of the horizontal is determined by the fabric being used. Heavier fabrics will require sturdier horizontals while the opposite is true for lighter weight fabrics.

Once the structure is firmly in place, slide the drapes over the structure so that the horizontals are completely concealed. Depending on what fullness you desire, you can have large unbroken drape panels that are sleeved on one horizontal. You can also sleeve on several pieces on the to create more fullness.

Fullness refers to the amount of drape sleeved onto the horizontal to create a desired look. The more drape added, the fuller and richer it&#;s appearance. Different fabrics call for different amounts of fullness. Encore fabric is typically hung with 1.5% fullness, where sheer drapes are typically hung with 200% fullness.

What Are the Best Rental Fabrics for Draping?

22 oz. Encore rental fabric is made of brushed polyester and is wrinkle-resistant, as well as sound-absorbing. 14 oz. King rental fabric is medium weight and luxurious. Made of 100% polyester it has the look of velvet. King drape comes in Cashmere, Chocolate, Graphite and White. King is used in similar ways to Encore Drape and is 100% Inherently Flame Retardant.

8 oz. Supervel is a lot lighter than Encore. This 100% polyester fabric comes in a variety of colors, such as red, purple, and gold and has a distinct mottled finish. Supervel is a great alternative to the heavier drape. The fact that it is lightweight makes it easy to be set up, especially in high-ceilinged venues

This 2 oz. highly textured, luxurious fabric will add a touch of class to any event. Globally sourced it is the perfect alternative to a flat fabric. Chenille is lightweight, works perfectly with lighting effects and is 100% Inherently Flame Retardant

How Do You Install Drapes?

At Drape Kings, we install drapes by adhering to the following procedure:

Our team starts by laying out the drape&#;s support horizontals. These adjustable horizontals range from 2&#;-3&#; up to 22&#; h. We determine the horizontal drape support length by considering the span that needs to be covered and the weight of the fabric that will be hung.

After laying out the perimeter with horizontal drape support, we will then place the bases plates. Drape Kings&#; typical base measure 18&#; x 18&#;, weight 35lb, and features three holes on average offering flexibility. Once the pin is attached in the best spot the height uprights are placed over it, and sandbags on top of it for stability.

Drape panels are then sleeved onto the horizontal, and the Velcro tear back pockets close one over the other for a flush overlap and smooth finished appearance. This is how we pioneered the NO HUMP look in our Pipe and Drape systems!

After hooking the horizontals into the uprights, you can adjust the fullness, and add accessories (e.g., header clamps, clip rods, or sign hooks) when needed. Once all looks good, you are ready to raise the system up to your desired height.

What happens if I damage a drape?

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN HANDLING DRAPE. Rips, liquid, marks, and stains can be difficult and sometimes impossible to repair. In some cases, the cost of damages can far exceed the rental cost, but that shouldn&#;t be an issue if you follow these simple rules.

• NEVER attach anything to the drape including staples, tape, pins, or string. Use only approved Drape Kings hardware, clamps, clips and ties.
• SECURE the baseplates with sandbags so they don&#;t fall.
• WORK CLEAN open or fold drapes on clean floors or ask us for folding tarps.
• KEEP AWAY FROM LIQUIDS drapes stain easily.
• FOLD all drapes before returning.

How Do I Measure For Stage Draperies?

If you are planning to replace existing draperies or purchase new custom draperies for an event, Drape Kings will assist you in selecting the best one for the facility or venue. Before our team can provide an accurate quotation, there various measurements you need to take.

How Do I Store My Drapes When They Are Not In Use?

When it comes to storing drapes, you have three options: fold, hang, and roll.

Start by dismantling the drape and give it a good pat down to remove excess dust. To prevent any risk of damaging delicate fabrics, you may have the drape to be professionally cleaned. If your drape is already clean, you are ready to proceed.

While rolling the drape is a straightforward process, make sure that the floor or surface is clean. If you are folding the drape, place it neatly on the floor so that the folds and/or pleats are in place. The next few steps involve repeatedly folding the drape in half until it fits your storage space. If possible, do store the rolled drapes in old paper tubes.

If there is enough space to store your drapes in a hanging position, ensure that they are hung a few days before storage as it helps air out the wrinkles. You may also mist the back of the drapes, but do not overdo it.

If your drapes are stored for a long time, check them annually for signs of mildew.

It is important that drapes are stored in dark areas where the temperatures are stable. You might want to consider climate-controlled storage units if the drapes are made with very delicate fabrics.
