Car Camping Shade Awning Canopy for 8-10 Person ...

So I bought this tent for a Land Rover off-roading rally basicall for "glamping." The intent was to put up, back my Rover into it so I could have the tailgate open and access to power/my stuff. I laid down a cloth mat to use as a floor and put my folding hammock stand on top of it.

Upon opening it, the instruction were on top. I added a photograph of them to this review. They were absoultely worthless. To start, two of the tent poles elastic paracord cores were snapped right out of the package, rendering them somewhat useless to fold up and made it harder to insert into the tent slots. So I after 20-30 minutes, I got the poles in and it was time to raise them up and put them in the pole mounts. That was relatively easy, but that's also where the easy part of this tent ended. I was doing this alone, and had to ask for help to finish setting it up. the instructions say nothing about the guy lines or how to use them&#;or even where to mount them&#;so a person more experienced than me attached the guy lines to the back panes of the tent and we raised it from there. There are cloth straps on the bottom of the tent to help you space the poles out correctly so the doors/portals close appropriately because they're held on with velcro and not snaps or zippers.

So we got the tent up and all eight guy lines attached. I have attached another picture of that.

However the wind picked up that night and blew the tent over. At 4 a.m. I was forced to wake up, exit the tent, and re-tighten the guy lines. That got me through the first night.

The tent took the wind for the rest of the day with perodic tightening of the guy lines again. During the second night, the wind got worse and pulled up all the tent stakes, and tore off some of the guy lines. So i just slept under a collapsed tent because I was over it.

When it came time to put it away, I first removed the poles (which took 30 minutes alone due to the broken ones) and the thing went airborne, only being held to the ground by four guy lines. So I untied the remaining guy lines, but the thing was still so big and had enough lift on it that I couldn't fold it. So I just ended up stuffing it in my bag and folded it at home on my patio where there was no wind.

Folding it is also another process. The bag is nearly a perfect fit for a factory-folded tent, so I had to lay it out and fold it thrice before I could get it back into that little bag. The method I used was to place the tent on the ground upside down, then fold it in half, fold it in half again, and then again. I then rolled as tight as possible from both sides, meeting in the middle. That's how I got it back in the bag.

If used on a non-windy day this tent is a 3/5 due to the velcro door flaps not fitting together very well and the difficulty setting it up. On a windy day this tent is a 0/5.

Does it look good and fit an SUV into the front for glamping? Yes. But I see more use for it as a tent for a backyard picnic or get together than camping as long as there is little to no wind.

Want to return it because it is so bad and came broken. I suggest reading this review twice and other reviews on this product before buying. I got it on sale at $139 instead of the $169 full price and I still paid too much based on my experience with this product.
